Yesterday......My old boyfriend Stephen called me.
A little history is required. This is the guy that lived with me for five years...And he did so as long as there was enough money to meet his fiscal needs.Which in his case was non stop partying along with an attempt at entrepreneurship....Both of which I was expected to fund....and unfortunately did!
Ahhh...Love was blind and STUPID.....I blame it all on my midlife crisis....
Anyway, so I get a phone call from Stephen, which I did not return. Then I received an e-mail that just said "call me".
I had a feeling that here would be nothing he could say that I would be interested in...Since just four months ago he had called me with a request to "loan" him money....But ya know, one always hopes for the best....
Hoping that maybe this time he is just calling to say "hey, thinkin' about ya and just wanted to say hi."
Curiosity got the best of me....
Because you always think things will be different this time right? So I decided to call him and see what was goin' on.
Maybe, just maybe this time would be different because hope springs eternal right?
NOPE...same ole shit...
The conversation went like this:
"Hey Stephen whats goin' on?"
"Hey Baby....I need to borrow some money, three thousand bucks"
"Stephen...why would I loan you money"
" Because I'm me"......
Yup......that's what he said...."because I'm me"
But the scary part of the whole story is that for a brief, and I mean very brief moment I thought;
"Its only three thousand dollars...maybe I could help him out".......
"STOP thinking that" I shouted to myself.
Why would I consider something as stupid as that?
Because I'm me.......and he knows that.

how funny...interesting how things go....just received an e-mail from him wanting to come over to look for some tax stuff....right...he's broke!
A free comment, and worth every cent:
"Why would I consider something as stupid as that?"
Depends on what you're considering doing with the call.
As the start of a "Jerks I Have Known" article, it's not at all bad.
I'm half-way serious: you've got writing ability - as evidenced by this blog.
