I have been working with small dogs that have a disease called Collapsed Trachea. I started out using a formula recommended by a very well known veterinarian to treat this very sad disease and its not working for them, and I am having to modify the formulas to find a better remedy.
This disease usually strikes older small dog breeds. It causes these dogs to go into spasms of coughing when they get excited or when they drink water. It gets so bad, that eventually they can't breath at all.
Just the other day, I received an unusual request from a woman that had a ten month and one year old Yorkies. Her little babies were experiencing the symptoms of Collapsed Trachea. I thought at the time of how unusual this was, because these were just puppies.
I called her to about her case and to do a review of the symptoms. A couple of things jumped out at me.
These little dogs had been recently heavily vaccinated, and even more recently, they had just had the boosters for prevention of Kennel Cough.
I told her that it sounded as if her puppies were having reactions to these vaccines, and I gave her my rendition of what I believed these boosters were doing to the immune systems of these very small little dogs, who only weigh 4 pounds each.
Anyway, now not only did I have old dogs with this coughing, there are also now small young dogs with identical symptoms.
So I started thinking......these symptoms sound just like human Whooping Cough.
So I looked up Whooping Cough because I wanted to use the Chinese herbal formula for the treatment of this particular disease.
What I found astounded me.
Human Whooping Cough is also caused by the germ Bordetella, I never knew this.
This is the same germ that causes Kennel Cough in dogs, which is also the Bordetella bacteria.
This is also the same germ (partially active) that is injected into the puppies for the prevention of Kennel Cough, which is caused by the bacteria Bordetella.
Now these dogs have a disease that is exactly the same as the symptoms for people that have human Whopping Cough, which coincidently is also is caused by the Bordetella bacteria.
This vaccine for Kennel Cough is not recommended by Vets unless it is needed. What the hell does that mean? Then why in the hell are they doing it?
Dog and Cat owners beware....it is important to be your own health advocate on behalf of yourself and your pets. Money talks in the human health industry as well in the pet industry.
These shots are given to drive revenues, this is sad but true.

I am a bad pet owner to some people. But my cats are inside animals. They had whatever shots they were required to get before they were spayed and neutered, and none since. They've been fine.
I just don't believe they need all that stuff.
When people see the word MD....its as of GOD has spoken...they are human beings not perfect Gods....they make decisions based money just like the rest of the world.
Not all are bad, its just that people should not act like lemmings and just fall into the sea of ignorance.
I thought all vaccines were based on the bug that they were vaccinating against - But it defys logic to give a vaccination for a condition that is already at work in a body - so, yes, Hmmmmmm indeed!
I had no clue that human whooping cough and kennel cough are the same bug - and yet - now that you mention it - why not?! They sound alot alike symptomatically...do you suppose the small breeds are more suseptible just due to thier smaller windpipe?
Yeah, pharmacy company profits 'uber alles' :(
My wife is still asleep, waking up to cough, the bed surrounded by 3 coughing dogs, the older pomeranian coughing almost non-stop, and I am writing this (coughing)reminder to you that next year we will all be vaccinated. The virus Bordetella creates a 2 weeks to 3 months nightmare of coughing with side-shows of infectuous complications. In China whooping cough is called 'the 100 day' cough'. It sometimes incubates over 3 weeks and always goes away very very slowly slowly. Fact is there is nothing you can do to change it's course once started. So I to my hat to the inventor of the latest acellular vaccine and curse myself for not having had it. Just think! we'll probably have this thing around our neck till past Christmas and New Year.
...And by the way vaccinating a Yorkie or other young dogs in the very early stages of a Bordetella infection has been noticed to shorten the entire episode and is thus recommended. But never the older cheaper whole cell vaccines, only the new ones after 2004.
