Blogging Buddies

Lady Banana has passed on a new badge and it's call called Blogging Buddies...It's been really nice to become part of a blogging community, thanks Lady Banana I appreciate it, I like these badges....

It's a good thing that I have blogging pals, because I'm not sure if my other friend would consider me a good buddy at all.

After making my list of "things that bug me" yesterday, I decided that I was tired of being annoyed, and that I needed to start removing some of those pesky issues from my life.

So I thought a good place to start was to tell a friend that the reason I don't ever call her back, and that the reason that I obviously avoid her, is because all she wants to do, is talk about herself, and I find it incredibly Annoying.

She appreciated my honesty and was glad to know the reason why I had been obviously ditching her and she acknowledged that she had indeed become very self absorbed recently. As we discussed why this self absorption had become so pathological, she admitted that she felt as if she was "fading away"..

This friend dates boys that are in their 20's, and I mean "boys"....she likes em' young. She is very thin and wears very modern type clothing, you could say she's "with it". Her hair is very long, dark and curly, thanks to the sexy hair extensions, and she has a fabulous full busty figure, compliments of her plastic surgeon. Next, she wants to get a face lift....

Oh yes...I forgot to mention that the reason I was avoiding her calls is that all she wants to talk about are these young boys that idolize her.....yawn.

Ahhhh, I think its safe to say that she is having a mid-life crisis.

I'm trying to feel sorry for her.....but geez get over it already, it happens to all of us. Anyway I tried to be the patient friend but I could not help but being Annoyed.....

Turning to a subject that is not annoying, I would like to do my duty and pass on the Blogging Buddy badge to BJ from the blog A Bead A Day. I do this on behalf of Pink Pinkerton, Daisy, Orbit and That Bad Dog Chico Martini.

BettyJo you always ask about my pooches, and I think that although you are a "cat person" that my pack of dogs is winning your heart. Thanks BettyJo for being a Blogging Buddy to me and my dog pack family.

Seven Things That Make Me Go Postal.....

I was tagged by Lady Banana and Angel from Curious Animals.

They've asked me to discuss 7 items that might be considered interesting about me and that others might find interesting or amusing.

These two requests caused me a couple of days of concern, since all the things that I could think of that were fun and interesting should definitely not be written down on a public blog for future reference!

I really didn't know what meming was until I looked it up. It's suppose to give a blogger the opportunity to talk about things that they may not have ordinarily had any reason to write about...

So... That being said, I'm going to change the rules of this meme;

I'm tired of nice...lets get down to what's really easy to talk about and that's the things that bug us the most.

So what better then to talk about the things that really make me wanna go postal?(get it? the picture of the little dog?).

Heres my list and I wanna let you know I enjoyed making it;

#1) I get annoyed with people, particularly myself, I find me irritating most of the time.

#2) I get really annoyed with my friends and family who will not take the time to read my blog....

#3) I get annoyed with my friends who call me just to talk about themselves...Their the worst! I wanna pull my hair out and hang up on the blabbermouths.

#4) I get annoyed with the people I go to school with...some of them are real idiots and take themselves waaaay too seriously, they're a bunch of "know-it-all's who know nothing.

#5) I get annoyed at the people who honk at me just because I drive slow.

#6. ) I get annoyed at the people who I accidentally back into while attempting to park. They get so upset about the whole thing! Its usually a very small scratch...They need to take a pill and get over it.

#7) I get extremely annoyed just having the simplest conversation with my mother.

The new list is to include your very top 7 annoyances, and then pass the meme assignment onto another lucky blogger. Remember to link to them or whatever the hell else we're required to do when tagged. (your suppose to write out the rules), and I think you have to do it to 7 other writers and you have to notify them..etc etc etc etc etc etc

I'm tagging BJ at A Bead A Day since I know she can serve it up with the best of them and
I'm kicking back the tag to Lady Banana because I know she can do this list in a heart beat.

Others who I'm tagging and I think will do a good job making this particular list interesting are;

JD blogging at "I Do Things So You Don't Have To..."
Honeysuckle Rose "Not Much Southern Comfort"
Angel from "Curious Animals"

Okay, have at it and let it rip.....don't hold back, and don't worry who's reading your blog, speak from your heart, because YOU ARE YOUR BLOG!

Something Really Nice

I have been given a really pretty badge from JD who blogs at I Do Things so you don't have to....which is a very funny and witty blog about our day to day living and the short comings that we all seem to have in common with one another.

This morning I happened to be doing my usual blog reading, which I love to do with my hot cup of steaming coffee....when I flipped on over to visit JD's blog. I was surprised to find that she had given me a blogger badge award....what a nice thing in which to start my morning, thanks JD!

Here it is and what symbolizes;

What does it mean to be one’s blog? According to MeAndMyDrum (who came up with the award and the colorful badges):

"[it] really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun."

JD herself then goes on to gives this advise about our blogs, which I think is really so true and makes for an interesting blog for the readers;

If you want to be your blog:
  • Have fun
  • Say what you want to say, not what you think you should say
  • Write for yourself and for your readers
  • Try not to think about what your great-aunt might be thinking when she reads about you visiting a nude beach
  • Be original
  • Be yourself
  • BE YOUR BLOG!

I would also like to say another big thanks for JD for calling me "brave."...when just recently I have been feeling so extremely boring.

But not today; because someone called me "brave" , so I walked with my head held a little higher and felt just a little bit more special.

I would like to pass on this badge to BettyJO...that's Betty-JO not Betty Ho, her blog is A Bead a Day (she makes beautiful jewelry pieces), she was my first reader and she is responsible for me starting to read other peoples blogs, which by now is starting to become somewhat of an addiction...thanks for that BJ....(well maybe not...because now I get absolutely NOTHING done)

BettyJo tells a great story and her blogs give us a little slice of her life through a style that is distinctly "BettyJO". She is also incredibly active with her community and has built up quite a following.

Next I would like to pass this on to Honeysuckle Rose at Not Much Southern Comfort.
What a great blog, she writes about her family with a biting wit that is really very funny and an interesting read.

Last and not least, I want to pass on ANOTHER badge to Lady Banana, who is extremely interactive and is always on top of her blog with postings everyday of something interesting and unique.

Lady Banana gets a award a day...but she really deserves this because she is her blog.

I have been memed by a couple of different people, I am not shruking my blogging responsibilities, I'm just trying to think of something about myself that is not...."boring". I will post them tomorrow after much thought as to what would not put people sound to sleep...yawn

Weigh In Sunday and Pictures of Us

I can't believe it....I am now into week ten of my weigh in Sundays and I have only two more to go.

Last week I took on drastic measures...I cut out my diet cokes, I went to eating just the special cabbage soup and then a little later in the week I just added chicken to the menu. There was a little fruit along the way, but all in all it was a damn HARD week.

I did slip a bit on Thanksgiving and thats only because Jose was whispering in my ear as to how moist and utterly delicious the chocolate cupcakes were, and not to mention his dissertation about the banana nut bread frosting.

I cracked....and I knew he was doing it on purpose, he's like the Pied Piper, he loves to have people follow down the road through gluttony land.

But I think I honestly held my ground pretty good and ONLY had three measly pieces of banana bread and ONLY two cupcakes (which I wolfed down in less then three minutes). Compared to Thanksgivings of the past , I would consider this one a "piece of cake" HA!

Jose The Diet Corrupter
Notice the smirk on his face?...From the very minute I set foot into his kitchen he was bound and determined to knock me off the wagon....because his food is absolutely wonderful...

Getting back to the matter at hand here;

The burning question is how did I do this past week...I lost 1 and 1/2 pounds and that's it!

That damn diet promised me 15 pounds...say whaaat happened to me? Clearly I have a deficient thyroid or something.

However there is a silver lining, I can brag that this seven day extra special diet did slim down my hips from a large 35 to a large 34", which is really small for this heifer! (large means I have to pull the tape measure REALLY tight)

Ta daaaaa here are my pictures;

And yes that is a hole you see in my undies...Pinky and Daisy regularly play tug of war with my underwear when I get into the shower. Plus who cares about holes anyway since Pinky and Daisy are in that shredding stage and there is no one around this house to impress!

I'm Sorry...

I had to post this picture....it was too funny to pass up and anyway;

For the first time in a very long time...I saw someone who piqued my dwindling interest where the where the opposite sex is concerned.

I'm not sure why its become so diminished, perhaps it's because of that failed past relationship which absolutely broke my heart.

Or maybe its because now I'm at the end of the most current five year relationship which went absolutely nowhere and was a complete and utter drag.....

And just maybe perhaps at the end of the day; I've just given up thinkin' there's anyone out there suitable or that can meet my own particular needs.

I believe that it's because most women of my age group have been aging gracefully with someone they met at a much younger age.

But not to digress because that topic is for another blog, today my point is...I actually saw and met a very desirable man.

So alright maybe he doesn't qualify as my "perfect mate" because:

First of all he's not age appropriate; Twenty years younger...Call me PawHealer the cougher.

Secondly he most likely doesn't have a cent...forget it; been there done that.

And lastly, he's just a bodybuilding gym rat...NO WAY!

None the less what great piece of eye candy; and now at least I know there's still a glimmer of a flame and that my pilot light is still lit and not blown out....

What's Pinky Licking?and Day 3.....

Click to enlarge!I snapped this picture of Pinky licking the wall as they were lounging the other day.....Click to enlarge to see what he's doin'.....what a character.

Today is the end of day three....I have one word for this diet; BRUTAL.

However if you can withstand the total blandness of the menu, its not that bad as far as hunger, but your body is definitely freaking out by this time, which is now the end of day three.

Today was veggies and soup...I cheated and had a tiny bit of fruit, an apple and two small tangerines, I might have died if I didn't do it.

Tomorrow will be interesting; all the non fat milk I want to drink and three bananas... along with that soup that I am starting to hate.

See I think this diet is structured for very heavy people who do not exercise, so that's why I feel like my back is about to break...

I went shopping today, and I fit into size 4's and 6's although the 6's were a wee big large. Clearly this diet is doing the job and I am pretty sure that I will make my goal of 124 lbs by Dec
7Th, the day of my 52ND birthday...OMG am I really that old...shit.

Okay, I'm off to the gym for cardio, and to do some acupuncture on a dog with a crushed C-5 vertebrae, poor thing, plus it will keep my mind off the buzzing sound I am hearing in my ears which is obviously due to food deprivation.

Stuck NO MORE

Today is the end of the second day of this last resort diet technique. I have to say that it is working like a charm and I am stuck no more!

Saw Aunt Sally today, and she was wowed at the difference. She said my videos are not doing me justice... she loves me because shes my aunt...bless her!

Yesterday was day one.....only soup and fruit....no problem.

Today, only the soup and fruits and veggies... a treat of a baked potato with butter ...yummy

It was pretty extreme earlier before the potato, but I made it through.

Tomorrow is going to be tough, only soup and veggies, no fruit.

What's very interesting is that the diet does take out extra fluids, and thats what its designed to do. Water is streaming out of my body, my hips and abs are deflating..hurray!

I think it is giving the Liver a holiday, and letting it do minimal work. Its somewhat like a cleanse.

Okay.....tomorrow is day three! wowzer....wish me luck!

I included a pretty daisy picture....isn't she just the cutest?

Sunday Weigh In and Day One

Before I get started I wanted to make it clear that I do see improvements because just looking at my first video shows me that. But I am determined to get svelte hips and legs and I am far from that!

I have always been "thick" and to be where I want to be, I have to get much more defined. So I need a plan and I decided to follow my own philosophy which is to rid my body of that "sticky phlegm and damp".

To do this I went to the store and bought all the ingredients to my rapid fat loss soup that I have featured on this blog a few times before. This is a diet that they give to people who are going to have surgery but need to lose fast weight before they can operate. Okay....

It says I have to give up my coffee and diet soda.....NOPE can't give up my coffee, but I will forgo my diet soda....eeeeek!

Day One (today): I can eat all the soup I want and all the fruit my heart desires.

So whats in this soup? Basically nothing by chicken stock, mushrooms, and lots of green vegetables and a few spices.

I like this diet because I can eat all the soup I desire, not sure how the soup tastes at this point....looks a little bland.

But the important concept and the idea that appeals to me is the notion says that if I don't cheat, which I won't, I don't cheat on diets, I will loose 10-15 pounds in seven days, for me because I am not really heavy should mean about 8 pounds.

So here we are this past Sunday........I did show off my new jewelry from BJ at a Bead a Day, its really pretty, I don't think the video does it justice, I love the new earrings and anklet and the FREE pair of earrings I also received just for ordering the first time.

And I thought I had a bad day.......

I know I'm A Dog Person......

.....But this this video is too cute to pass up.

Things that make you go hmmmm.....

I have been working with small dogs that have a disease called Collapsed Trachea. I started out using a formula recommended by a very well known veterinarian to treat this very sad disease and its not working for them, and I am having to modify the formulas to find a better remedy.

This disease usually strikes older small dog breeds. It causes these dogs to go into spasms of coughing when they get excited or when they drink water. It gets so bad, that eventually they can't breath at all.

Just the other day, I received an unusual request from a woman that had a ten month and one year old Yorkies. Her little babies were experiencing the symptoms of Collapsed Trachea. I thought at the time of how unusual this was, because these were just puppies.

I called her to about her case and to do a review of the symptoms. A couple of things jumped out at me.

These little dogs had been recently heavily vaccinated, and even more recently, they had just had the boosters for prevention of Kennel Cough.

I told her that it sounded as if her puppies were having reactions to these vaccines, and I gave her my rendition of what I believed these boosters were doing to the immune systems of these very small little dogs, who only weigh 4 pounds each.

Anyway, now not only did I have old dogs with this coughing, there are also now small young dogs with identical symptoms.

So I started thinking......these symptoms sound just like human Whooping Cough.

So I looked up Whooping Cough because I wanted to use the Chinese herbal formula for the treatment of this particular disease.

What I found astounded me.

Human Whooping Cough is also caused by the germ Bordetella, I never knew this.

This is the same germ that causes Kennel Cough in dogs, which is also the Bordetella bacteria.

This is also the same germ (partially active) that is injected into the puppies for the prevention of Kennel Cough, which is caused by the bacteria Bordetella.

Now these dogs have a disease that is exactly the same as the symptoms for people that have human Whopping Cough, which coincidently is also is caused by the Bordetella bacteria.

This vaccine for Kennel Cough is not recommended by Vets unless it is needed. What the hell does that mean? Then why in the hell are they doing it?

Dog and Cat owners beware....it is important to be your own health advocate on behalf of yourself and your pets. Money talks in the human health industry as well in the pet industry.

These shots are given to drive revenues, this is sad but true.

Things that SHOULD make you go hmmmmmm.

Sunday Weigh In....Pictures of Us

Another Sunday and another weigh in.....

How bout' this picture.....How many times have I looked into the mirror and done this!

Only to capture a glimpse of myself in a photo, or a store window, and be shocked at that person who is staring back at me.

I wonder why my mind play those funny little games?

I also have become memorized by the concept of fat. Its such an insidious substance...

When exactly does it come, at night while I sleep?

How does it get there with out being noticed?

Why can't I see it until its too late and by then I have this big roll of fat hanging over my pants?

Then when I finally accept the fact that its really there and I have have to do something about it, why does it stick to me like glue and I can't get rid of it?

And the biggest question; WHY JUST BECAUSE I"M OVER 50 DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HARD?

Seriously, I think about this a lot, to me, fat is a fascinating subject.

I have a Eastern Nutrition class and each of us is to pick a topic to write a paper about, and then we have to prepare an Chinese meal based on this topic, and then serve it up to the class as we discuss our paper.

I of course picked the subject of obesity....

Can you imagine what the dish I'm going to prepare and what it will taste like? How can you cook a meal that is tasty to treat being fat? Trust me, food to get rid of fat is never good, no matter what anyone says.

I'm going to do a fat loss soup recipe which I posted awhile back on my blog, but I am going to do the fat loss fast for the week before and take pictures..HA....I'll get an A for the effort...I really have never fasted, so it should be interesting.

Anyone one to do it with me?...probably not.....

Did you know the Chinese say that fat is the accumulation of Phlegm and Damp? If that statement interests anyone as it does me, click the link and read about this fascinating subject.

Enough of myself already....here we are this Sunday. I am afraid that I'm stuck at 17.2% body fat. I can't shake it off.....Its sticking to me like glue. But I am seeing this thing through, I am hanging in there.....Here we are for our Sunday Weigh In and Pictures of Us!

Daisy's Bling Bling.....

There are some days during my recent life where I wonder; what would of it been like to have children, and I often speculate weather or not I would have been a good mother.

Today is one of those days that I got some insight to that particular question...

My friend Susan gave me two dogie designer t-shirts for Daisy and Pinkerton. Both shirts are black with white rhinestones that say "Bling Bling", how cute right?

Its cold here today, so I thought this might be a good time to put on the new outfits to help them stay warm, plus I thought I would take some pictures and show off their new gift to Susan as gratitude.

First, I slipped on Pinky's. He of course just laid there and let me have my way, as he looked adoringly into my my eyes, because I can do no wrong according to Pinky, I am his love object.

Then it was Daisy's turn....she had been sleeping in one of the twenty five dog beds that I have around the house, so maybe this was was not a good time, but I was determined that I would have a matched pair.

I slipped one paw through the hole. ..and then wait, ....was that a growl I heard?

No way I said to myself, not my sweet Daisy Girl. I continued on with the other paw, and then she let out a giant ferocious mean spirited roar!

I was shocked as you might imagine. I looked at her and I said;

"Daisy, BAD GIRL",

I stared her down as I put her head down into submission, that'll do the tick I thought to myself.

In the mean time poor Pinkerton is cringing in fear and horrified at this nasty exchange.

Then I went to put the T-shirt over her head, and she then once again snarled at me with all her little front teeth bared and her eyes glaring at me....her provider.

I sat there, this was shocking.

Once again I sternly reprimanded her, calling her a "VERY BAD GIRL" ....

I held her head down even longer, but that didn't work either because the entire time I was finishing putting on the t-shirt, she continued to give me some giant attitude.

So what are the spiritual ramifications of this incident? Here are my thoughts on the matter;

1) I am this families low man on the dog pack ladder.

2) Daisy is just striking out from her beating she took from Bad Dog Chico Martini.

3) Its the nasty chihuahua genetic makeup causing her to lash out.

4) Girl dogs are just bitches.

All that love and devotion, and what do they do, they turn around and growl at you!

Daisy's Fate...My Dilemma

I left off by telling of the account of Daisy's eye, and where once again her eye had started gushing huge amounts of blood;

So I looked at her eye, and I said 'O boy", I knew I had problems here.....I put the cloth hard against her eyeball and once again applied very hard pressure, it hurt her, but she withstood the pain, seemingly knowing I was helping her.

Not only was it awful that this was happening, but what was worse, was little Daisy girl's pathetic wondering; Why couldn't she see? Daisy Girl kept waving her little paw in front of her bloody eye, while making a very pathetic little mewing sound, my heart was breaking for her, she was truly very sacred.

The entire time that I am administering to Daisy Girl, right next to me, watching my every move and staying as close as he could, was sweet Pink Pinkerton. His concern for Daisy Girl was palpable, he was right there with me the entire time, trying to help and assure the little Daisy Girl, by giving her loving nudges and getting as close to her as he possible could.

It was amazing to watch the two in this situation, she looked to him for help, and he was there for her by comforting her and providing her a safe haven. Never before have I ever seen two dogs connected as these two siblings are to one another.

This is where I came to the Y in the fork of the road and my dilemma began. I love this little dog, her and Pinky mean the world to me. Here I was, in a situation that my first impulse was to get her to the Vet....

But this would be in direct conflict with what I do each and every day.

My website pawhealer.com sells Chinese herbal formulas to dogs and cats that are very sick. I tell my pet loving customers that I stand by these herbal formulas, and because of this, they put their trust into me, they believe me when I tell them that herbals are in fact something that work as well, if not better, than most western medicine solutions.

That being said, I knew that if I could determine for a fact that her eyeball was not poked out, and not punctured, and did not need surgery, I could handle the situation with my own very powerful herbs.

Because if one remembers history, the Chinese were a warring nation, and eye lacerations were a common occurrence, so clearly, I could find an herbal solution for Daisy Girls wounded eye, if the Chinese could do it, so could I!

I then set myself on a mission to determine if her eye was intact. After a few minutes of applying pressure, I was able to get a glimpse of her eye, and I found the the color to be good and there was not any evidence of clear fluids. I then made the decision that her eye itself was not injured because the blood appeared to be coming from inside the lower lid.

By then she was curled up against Pinky, and she was hunkered down and could barley keep her eyes open. I think she was in a state of mild shock, but she was responsive, so I decided that I would watch over through the night and let her sleep. It was a very restless night for me, but every time I checked her, she was sleeping a normal sleep.

When we woke up the next morning, her eye of course was swollen shut. I once again examined her eye and pried it open, and I could see that the eye itself was fine, but the tissue around the eye was in pretty bad shape.

I then got up... went over to my extensive herbal pharmacy and picked out an herbal formula called Gu Die Shang Wan (The Great Mender). This is a formula that is used for trauma. I got the little tea pills down her throat with very little problem, and then I waited.

Within one hour the swelling was completely down, her eye had opened, and she was walking around the house.

Here is Daisy to show you herself;

She Didn't ! & Sunday Nov 5 Weigh-In

I have my Sunday Secret that I tell every Sunday......

As you know if you read my post called Scary Night on Sassafras St. Daisy's fate hang's in the balance at the end of the post.

Based on the above Secret Postcard as well as the picture on the left;

What do you think my Sunday Secret might be? hmmmmmm?
Here are my Sunday Weigh-In Pictures:

Scary Night On Sassafras St

It was late Friday night, and all the dogs and me where in the kitchen. I don't even know what I was doing when all the sudden I heard a big commotion going on between Daisy Girl and that Bad Dog Chico Martini...

I then heard Daisy yelping and it was extremely loud, and it was also a higher intensity than when her and Chico have previously had a tussle. I decided to investigate, I walked over to where she had run, which was to her little dog bed, only to find huge amounts of blood gushing out of her eye, not a small amount of blood, A LOT of blood.

That Bad Dog Chino Martini had bit Daisy Girl, as hard as I think he possible could, and he bit her smack dab right on her eye.

At first I panicked...I was walking around going "o my god, o my god" , and yelling at Chico what a bad dog he was and then said to myself...HOLLY SNAP OUT OF IT; YOUR ALMOST A OMD (Dr. of Oriental Medicine) YOU CAN HANDLE THIS!

I gathered my wits, I went to the sink, got a cloth, put water on it, and then I went to find Daisy. By that time she had jumped up on the living room couch and was curled up against Pinky as if she was asking him to protect her. You could see the poor little thing was freaked out, she was making this pathetic little sound, it was awful...blood just gushing from her eye socket.

Her eye was not at all visible because the blood was so thick ... I sucked it up, gathered her in my arms and told her it was okay, I put the cloth against her eye and applied pressure, which she very bravely let me do without a struggle.

We sat there for about three minutes, and then I decided to take a look at her eye, not at all sure that she still even had one, it was that bad. I pulled away the cloth, and I could see thankfully that her eyeball was intact, but that she had sustained a really bad bite, and it was still questionable...

I walked back in to check on her after taking the cloth back to the kitchen, only to find that her eye was gushing again. I ran back to the kitchen, gathered another cloth, and once again applied pressure.

END OF PART ONE...to be continued tomorrow! Stay tuned to find out Daisy's Girl's fate.
